정부공인 어학능력 측정기관 으로서 대한민국의 대표적 측정기관으로 역할을 수행 하고 있습니다.

TEPS센터는 영어능력시험의 연구와 개발을 전담하고 있습니다.

언어교육원은 30여 년 전부터 정부공인 어학능력 측정기관으로서 한국의 대표적 측정기관으로의 역할을 수행해 왔으며, TEPS센터는 1979년에 언어능력측정부로 시작하여 2001년 언어능력측정센터로 승격되었고, 2011년에 언어능력측정센터에서 TEPS센터로 분리되었습니다.

현재 대한민국 대표 영어시험으로 확고하게 자리 잡은 TEPS(Test of English Proficiency developed by Seoul National University)를 비롯하여 영어 말하기 시험인 TEPS-Speaking, 영어 글쓰기 시험인 TEPS-Writing을 연구·개발 하고 있습니다. 나아가, 보다 정확하고 종합적인 영어능력 평가를 위해 TEPS와 TEPS-Speaking, TEPS-Writing이 통합된 i-TEPS를 개발하여 2009년 9월부터 시행하고 있습니다. 또한, 언어능력측정센터가 담당하는 측정시험인 SNULT(Seoul National University Language Test) 중에서 영어 시험의 연구·개발도 맡고 있습니다.!!
